Houston based artists M’kina Tapscott and Robert Pruitt will present Space Loneliness, the first presentation in the series Revenue Sharing. Space Loneliness is based on the post Tardis Stowaways featured on the blog NOT THAT THIS. The two artists will highlight the complications and difficulties of being Black and a lover of speculative fiction. The duo will discuss the ideological stakes of the genre for communities of color as well as their attempts at resolving these issues in their work as artists.
Revenue Sharing is based on the 1960s “Teach-In” and is held in conjunction with Theaster Gates’ mixed media installation See, Sit, Sup, Sing: Holding Court featured in the exhibition Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art. The thirty-minute lunch presentations begin at 12:15PM.
