Join us for the opening reception of LaToya Ruby Frazier: WITNESS. Frazier’s work in photography, video, performance, and activism constitutes an extended form of documentary practice. Frazier shoots in Braddock, Pennsylvania, home to industrialist Andrew Carnegie’s first steel mill, established in 1872. Like many municipalities across the United States, Braddock has faced numerous challenges in recent decades as it struggles to weather the transformation from a center of manufacture to existence in a post-Fordist information economy. LaToya Ruby Frazier: WITNESS features photographs, videos, digital works, and a recent photolithograph series that speak to these conditions. Frazier will lead a gallery walk-through of the exhibition at 6:30PM. Reception with cash bar.
