Design Now-Houston: Peter Lucas and Rusty Arena

Thursday, August 15 | 6:30PM

In conjunction with Graphic Design: Now in Production, CAMH presents Design Now-Houston, a five part lecture series that explores a wide-range of graphic design output in the city. Nearly every week, a new set of graphic designers and artists will give a variety of talks about their projects, influences, and ideas. This week join us for lectures by filmmaker and independent curator Peter Lucas, and Rusty Arena, the founder of Arena Design, who will be joined in conversation by Hiram Butler of Hiram Butler Gallery.

About the Speakers:

Peter Lucas is a filmmaker and independent curator who most recently curated the Jazz on Film series at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Lucas will be speaking on the recent history of title design in film.

A member of the first graduating class of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Rusty Arena is celebrating 25 years at the helm of Arena Design, which is known for its custom couture fabrics and wall coverings. Throughout his three-decade plus career, Arena has continued to create in a variety of art mediums including sculpture and paint. Arena, whose work has been shown locally at Hiram Butler Gallery, will be joined in conversation by Butler in a discussion of his work and tenured career.
