Threat of Joy: CAMH’s Teacher Advisory Group Exhibition at Mid Main’s First Thursday

September 4 | 6:00PM - 10:00PM
Mid Main Lofts

About

Join us for an art-filled evening, as Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) partners with Mid Main for an unforgettable First Thursday block party. This is the last chance to see Threat of Joy, a collaborative exhibition of student and teacher artwork showcasing joy and rebellion organized by Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH)’s fourth cohort of the Teacher Advisory Group (TAG). The thought-provoking work in the exhibition is made both to fight oppression, as a reminder to create in spite of a lack of motivation, and to choose joy when the pressures of the world can feel heavy and overwhelming.

Since 2012, First Thursdays have grown into a beloved tradition in the 3600 block of Main Street, known for philanthropy and community building while supporting non-profits each month. The event will include live music and performances, complimentary beverages (21+ with a wristband purchased with proceeds benefiting CAMH’s Education Fund and Teacher Advisory Group), and the opportunity to connect with art enthusiasts and support local businesses.

Special Location

3550 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77002, parking is available at the Mid Main Lofts Parking Garage on Travis Street with the entrance just past Winbern. There is also a stop on the Red Metro Line at Ensemble/HCC.

Tickets

Wristbands: $10 for 21+ with proceeds benefiting Teacher Advisory Group (TAG) and CAMH's Education Fund to support learning and engagement programs.
