College Night

Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) invites all college students to an evening of free hands-on collage and mixed media activities as well as complimentary snacks and beverages within a site-specific installation by artist Julia Rossel. This year’s College Night is inspired by our current exhibitions, Ming Smith: Feeling the Future and Jordan Strafer: Trilogy. Explore the galleries and join in on the variety of activities throughout the Museum!

This event is free and open to all college students. Please bring your college ID for verification.

About Julia Rossel

Julia Rossel is a Bolivian-American sculptor, native to Houston, Texas. Her practice is currently focused in community organizing and injecting sculpture into social spaces. Over the past year she has curated multi-faceted events that platform and connect local artists, musicians, and small businesses. At select venues she has installed sculptures to engage audiences with art in an accessible way. The installations are materially driven, made of manipulated fabric suspended by and decorated with metals, like aluminum wire and rusty hardware. They are immersive yet breathable, and inviting for conversation beneath the entangled knots and strands. Rossel has previously shown work in The Big Show (2022) and Art Crawl (2022). Rossel is earning a BFA in Sculpture at University of Houston, working at Art League Houston as weekend programs associate, and at CAMH as Teen Council Associate and FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) team member.
