About

Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) invites you to join us for a special pop-up exhibition at Aldine Branch Library, featuring extraordinary works by Hill Elementary’s Hill Hawks Art Club Students. In collaboration with the Teaching Artists in Classroom project, this exhibition celebrates the resilience and creativity of these young minds during a time of educational changes.

CAMH is proud to showcase the remarkable self-portraits created by Hill Elementary’s Hill Hawks Art Club Students in collaboration with Teaching Artist, Janice Warren.

Over the past five months, CAMH’s commitment to arts education has flourished with specialized art instructors working in various schools throughout the city. One standout collaboration features teaching artist Janice Warren, who worked closely with art teacher Christian Perkins’ classroom at Hill Elementary in a Creative and Colorful Autobiography workshop. Students use acrylic paints, newspapers, colored pencils, oil pastels, found objects, and more to visually represent their unique qualities and individual experiences to create self-portraits. Their artworks not only reflect personal expression but also emphasize the importance of artistic enrichment for all students.
