About Nance and Hays
Dennis Nance and James Hays are native Houstonians. Both have worked in the Houston art community throughout their careers. Hays and Nance are the duo behind Weird Wear, a line of shirts that were featured in the CAMH’s exhibition Texas Design Now in 2015.
Nance is an artist and the Curator for the Galveston Arts Center. He has worked extensively with local and regional organizations and artists. He was awarded an Individual Artist Grant from the Houston Arts Alliance and an Idea Fund Award in 2015. His work has been included in exhibitions at the ICA Boston, The Brandon, BOX13 ArtSpace, and the Menil Collection bookstore. He received his BA from Austin College in Sherman, TX with a concentration in Fine Arts and French.
Hays is a seasoned laborer in the arts, serving as a writer, editor and administrator. For over a decade he has managed fundraising efforts at a range of organizations including Rothko Chapel, Houston Center for Photography, Da Camera, The Blaffer Art Museum and others. He is a graduate of the University of Houston where he studied Literature and Philosophy.
