About

Please join our celebration of young artists from South Early College High School! View their artwork for the first time and enjoy various creative activities!

Over a span of several months, South Early College High School, Houston Public Library and Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH), collaborated in a long term art project to promote student artwork. In partnership with the Teaching Artists In Classrooms project, Teaching Artist Carlos Mendoza encouraged the students to explore new techniques and mediums to create vibrant self-portraits that reflect relationships with family, friends, and pastimes. Each artwork on display serves as a vibrant reflection of personal narratives and stands as a testament to the transformative potential of artistic enrichment for all students.

The exhibition, Through Our Eyes: The Art of Family, Friendship, and Pastimes, will be on view at Johnson Neighborhood Library from February 13 - May 27, 2025.
