Join Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH)’s Education Team as they take their popular program Open Studio on the road for a special edition at River Oaks District in conjunction with the installation SKYWAVES. Make a Mylar button to match the silvery shimmer of the installation. If you have more time—create a new work of art inspired by the lunar landing and participate in an Art Exchange with fellow visitors
SKYWAVES is a creative collaboration between River Oaks District Houston and Contemporary Arts Museum Houston inspired by the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing. Hanging over four quadrants of the district, the installation is crafted entirely out of Mylar as a reference to the flag placed by astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong on the moon.
About Open Studio
CAMH’s Open Studio events feature drop-in, hands-on activities that draw inspiration from the exhibitions on view. The first Saturday of every month you will have an opportunity to explore imaginative concepts inspired by world-renowned artists who show at the Museum by making your own artworks in response to theirs. Experiment with new materials, explore fresh ideas, and make new friends. Whether you stay for five minutes or two hours, you’re invited to interact with art in new and profound ways at Open Studio. All ages are welcome; admission is always free.
