Inspired by Cauleen Smith: We Already Have What We Need, explore the featured film, video, sculpture, textiles, installation, and drawing in the exhibition in a scavenger hunt for textures.
Instructions
01. DISCOVER
The work of artist Cauleen Smith is rich in both visual and physical texture. Today at CAMH, explore the exhibition and the Museum’s outdoor Plaza to observe textures found in art and nature. If you are conducting this scavenger hunt at home, explore different places inside and outside where you can safely touch and examine your surroundings.
02. LOOK INSIDE
As you explore, look for any of the following textures:
- Soft
- Hard
- Coarse
- Bumpy
- Crocheted
- Fuzzy
As you notice each texture, can you guess what material it could be made of? Make a list of additional textures you find and add them to the list.
03. INVESTIGATE OUTSIDE
Safely explore outside to locate any of the following textures:
- Smooth
- Rough
- Dry
- Wet
- Slippery
- Sticky
How are the textures outside different from the textures you noticed inside? Can you find additional textures to add to this list?
Take a picture of your favorite textures within Cauleen Smith’s exhibition and share your images with CAMH. #atCAMH #CauleenSmith | @camhouston
