Pick up a free art kit in the Museum and use the supplies to create temporary paper sculptures inspired by the sculptural assemblages of Jessi Reaves in the exhibition Wild Life: Elizabeth Murray & Jessi Reaves.
3D Shape Templates
01. Create Your 3D Shapes
Lay out your templates and notice the differences in length and color on each page. Which designs look larger? Which paper feels lighter? Using scissors, cut out each template, then assemble each shape by folding the template design as indicated. Secure the edges with tape to close.
02. Create A Base
Think about which shapes will create the base of your sculpture. Consider how wide you want your base. Be sure to use your largest shapes to support how big you plan to make your sculpture. Secure your largest shape to your cardboard to create your base.
What else can you add to your sculpture to create the shape and form you want? Continue adding objects and materials to your sculpture. For reinforcement, tape items together or join with string or pipe cleaners to help secure the shape.
Step back and take a look at your sculpture from different angles. To complete, add small and lightweight items, such as beads, buttons, or keys to your sculpture.
