Workshop | Words & Art

Join us as we explore A Counting, the work of conceptual artist Ekene Ijeoma and his group Poetic Justice at MIT Media Lab, using prompts, group discussion, and your imagination. Participants delve deeply into all the ways we can participate in A Counting and will participate in sharing, transcribing, and listening to a voice portrait of Houston.

For the participants interested in sharing their work as a featured reader at the Reading on Saturday, November 19, 2020, they can submit their work to wordsandartsubmissions@gmail.com by midnight on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Works must be one page or less and must respond to the artworks in the Beyond CAMH exhibition A Counting. Submissions are judged by Mary Wemple and a guest judge. Featured readers will be announced on Friday, November 13, 2020. It is not required to attend the workshop in order to submit writing to be a featured reader.

The program will be held virtually and uses a participatory online art project as inspiration. This event is free. Pre-registration required.

The workshop is open to all writing levels.
