Join us as we explore Cauleen Smith: We Already Have What We Need, using prompts, group discussion, and your imagination. This Words & Art Workshop will feature a Workshop for adults as well as teens to delve deeply into works in this exhibition, which features film, video, sculpture, textiles, installation, and drawing. For the participants interested in sharing their work as a featured reader at the Reading on Thursday, September 23, 2021, they can submit their work to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Works must be one page or less and must respond to the artworks in Cauleen Smith: We Already Have What We Need. Submissions are judged by Mary Wemple and a guest judge. Featured readers will be announced on Friday, September 17, 2021. It is not required to attend the workshop in order to submit writing to be a featured reader.
Words & Art Workshops are available for adults and teens to provide audiences an opportunity to participate in a writing workshop with their peers. Our teen workshop is recommended for youth ages 13 and up. Our adult workshop is recommended for 18 and up.
Workshops are open to all writing levels.

About Words & Art
Words & Art is a workshop and reading series inspired by the art in Houston, Texas. It was founded and organized by local poet and artist Mary Wemple. She holds bachelor’s degrees in both English and Studio Art from the University of Houston and an MFA in Studio Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
