Mary Joseph Lyons and her husband, Albro Lyons were black abolitionists in Antebellum, New York. Property ownership was a condition for suffrage. The Lyons family owned multiple properties in Seneca Village and lived elsewhere. Other transformed images include images of contemporary women of color in New York who were then experiencing the seizures of their fully paid for properties just as the people of Seneca Village had in their time.
